Does anyone "oil" their bows?

Just curious if anyone wipes down or oils their bows like a gun?

My dad always did and preached it to me when I was younger to take care of your guns and your bow.

If you do oil up your bow what do you use? I like to wipe down the metal parts, sight, screws etc. with mineral oil to prevent rust. No smell.

Anyone else?

I do sometimes. Makes me mad that you pay over $100 for a really nice sight and the cheap screws start to rust almost immediately!

Negative, oil attracts dust.

I put bow wax on the screw heads. The only place there is any kind of lube on a bow is in the limb pockets and in the cam bearings.

Even so in the cam bearings, theyre a sealed bearing system so likely without pressing that bearing out and a long soak in lighter fluid you arent going to clean that bearing.

What I say might not be the popular trend but at least Im not afraid to speak my mind!

What he said.

I have a Hoyt and there is no oiling noted in the maintenance section of the instructions. Bow wax on the screw head keeps them from rusting. Nothing like taking all the precautions in the world for scent control to then take out a bow with a lite coat of oil on the screw heads.

I keep the string maintained and I keep the bow clean. I do not oil it.

Finally, someone who thinks like I do! Not only the sight screws, but ALL the screws on your upwards of $1K bow! All the manufacturers are too cheap to spend the extra, perhaps, one or two dollars per bow to give you black anodized stainless screws. I'd interject a swear word here if this site would let me!!

I use my bow for hunting, in all weather, and most of the screws are rusted. Really ticks me off!
