Re: G5 Montec

I shoot G5's out of both my bow and crossbow and they seem to fly true and are quite accurate in my set up. Shot a deer with the 100 gr. and it zipped right through her leaving a nice blood trail. I really like them.

Re: G5 Montec

I switched to the G5's after trying Grim Reapers. I lost a massive Pope and Young buck with poor penetration with the Reapers. I made the same shot two years later with the G5's and the performed as expected. In the event that you miss or have a pass through' the G5's can easily be re sharpened. I feel they are trouble free and fly well. I use the 100 grain heads.

Care to elaborate on the placement of this shot?

I don't hunt turkeys because I want to, I hunt turkeys because I have to.

Re: G5 Montec

15 yard shot, hit high on right side from 15 feet up a tree. Shot should have hit high in the right lung , travel through to the left lung and end up in the left leg from the inside out. The deer was quartering to the right. The carbon express maxima 250 was shot from a Mathews lx set at 62 lbs. The arrow only penetrated about 8 inches. I believe it hit a rib and skirted out. I made the same shot 2 years later and the arrow went through the rib and lodged in the opposite leg.

Re: G5 Montec

I shot G5 Montec for years. Durable, good flight, easily tuned, super sharp, easy to resharpen with their stone. As season got colder, subcutaneous fat stopped the external loss of blood easily because the incisions flapped right back to their original positions. Had a solid double lung, 23 yd. hit with a pass through. Initial blood at the impact point on the ground, not another drop for 60 yards where the deer laid. Exit wound was low behind the leg, so it should have given me some trail. When I pushed on the chest, then the wounds would bleed. Decided to go to a 4 blade after that and went to the Slick Trick, then the Rage 2 blade, now trying the Ramcat this year. You never know, may go back!

Wishing I was at camp!
