New sight

Was looking to put the IQ Micro Retina Lock Five-Pin Sight on my bow, was just wondering if anyone uses this sight and has any problems with it

Re: New sight

I was looking hard at that sight. It gets good reviews on Archerytalk. The fact that it's made in China killed it for me. I have my bow set up with all USA made products and I didn't want to break the trend with that sight.

Re: New sight

I've set several of them up for people and it seems like a well built sight. The import thing turns me off also.

If you're willing to spend that kind of money, but a Spot Hogg and be done with it.

I don't hunt turkeys because I want to, I hunt turkeys because I have to.

Re: New sight

I was looking at those sights too, and was comparing it to the spot hogg and the one thing I like over the spot hogg is the smaller pin fiber size besides the whole retina lock think too.

Funny story, I was looking at this sight in the aisle at cabelas and the guy from the archery department comes over and says to me " have you ever shot one of those? I said No but thinking about goint to one. He replies "to confusing for me" I replied Really? He says " yeah but I don't even look at my bubble" Oh jeeze,,, that was the end of my conversation this that numb nutt ,,,this guy works in and gives new archers advice. this just reminded me why I hate cabelas archery dept.

I haven't picked my new bow up yet but Theron put the site on my bow and it looks so nice! I can't wait to bring her home and shoot her in!

Re: New sight

So did you get it? I'm curious myself about the IQ five pin. I have read a lot of great reviews, but was worried about something that was so commercialized actually working. I need to get a new sight this week. Let me know what you think of the setup. That was the only thing I read from one guy is it took him a little long to get it sighted in.

Re: New sight

I got one for my wife.

It's easy enough to sight in, you zero it like any other sight...
The "retina thingy" is adjusted afterwards, and that can be a little challenging.
(it pretty much requires a second person)

Basically it gives you a second reference point to the level.
I think the biggest benefit is to help a new(er) shooter learn to have good
technique giving them a visual reference to when they are doing things the
same way. In her case she sometimes cants the bow front to back causing
vertical stringing. The retina helps her notice and forces her to correct.

I think it's a pretty nice, well built sight with good adjustments.
The retina display works as advertised and isn't "just a gimmick"...
whether it has any value to you, only you can decide. You could make the same
argument about a level. Lot's of people were great shots without levels, but
they definitely help me. I always check my level, it's usually on, but every now
and then when I glance at it, I see I'm slightly off and adjust...

As far as the USA thing... that's up to you. While I support and advocate buying
American, we all have things that aren't made here...
