Did a dumby yesterday

I had a new peep sight installed on my flintlock and had shot it to sight it in. As usual I was not quite satisfied so took it out yesterday and it was shooting a little to the right so I moved the sight to the right and after a couple of shots moved it some more. Soon I was all the way off the paper. I disgustedly took a break for lunch and while eating I realized I was moving the sight the wrong way. Went back out and moved the sight left and viola the group moved to the left. Must have been a senior moment as I have been shooting open sights since about 1955. No sense being stupid unless you can show it. Sure glad no one was looking when I did that.

Re: Did a dumby yesterday

yep i did that once with one of my model 14's. kept moving the ramp up and wondered where the bullet went. i still remember that to this day.

rear sight moves the way you want the bullet to go. front site moves opposite.

Re: Did a dumby yesterday

If you can remember this , Move rear sights the same direction you want the bullet impact to move, move front sights the opposite direction you want bullet impact to move. Somehow I have branded that into memory.
