Maxi Hunter Performance and Penetration

I have worked up a load for my .54 cal Flintlock using the T/C Maxi Hunters 435gr and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them?? I am impressed how they shoot and load BUT have not harvested any game with them YET.
Thanks in advance
Dave

Re: Maxi Hunter Performance and Penetration

Hi Dave. I have a few precious 470gr maxi-hunters left in .50 T/C doesn`t make them near this large anymore in .50 If you hit the shoulder with these, they tear the meat up really badly. I reccomend a double lunger with these. They are very accurate out of my NEF Sidekick with 90gr of Goex FFG. 1/28 twist.

Re: Maxi Hunter Performance and Penetration

Thanks Octagon--------------I tried them in my new.54 and was impressed. I had 3 touching at 50yrds and they loaded so easily. I short started them with my thumb and one pass with the ramrod and they were seated. T/C stopped making them so I am buying them all up as I find them(I think I have 8-9 boxes so far!).
Just wondered how they worked on deer.
Thanks again
Dave
