After a few years away, start a new one.

My old target gun sported an H&H target barrel . Prime guy behind the special design rifling was an eccentric character named Hoppy, who often traveled around with a giant Parrot on his shoulder. Hoppy stopped making barrels some 20 or 30 years ago. When I lost my target gun in a fire, I was feeling like I could never find another gun that could be as accurate. Well last week, I am skimming fast through some on-line classified for firearms, and something jumps out at me and causes a double take. A brand new old stock, never been breached H&H barrel in 50 caliber. Last new one I saw sell, brought $510 on ebay. I got this one for much less. It has wide grooves and a special round bottom rifling after Harry Pope's design. Even comes with a custom mold.

Gonna take my time and do it right. I am thinking a Schuetzen rifle with palm rest and hook butt plate. It will take a while to gather parts. I would like the German style diopter sights I had before. Not sure I want to spend $300 on a rear sight. I still have some original Swiss target parts from an old gun that was ruined by neglect. This will probably take a while. I took years to find the sights I had on the old rifle.
