Great day to be alive !!! The whole winter should be like this !!!!

Rain is pulled out for the time being. Pretty good easterly wind. 50-ish degrees. Feels like I should have my turkey gun instead of the flinter.

Have a couple buddies in on the property today. Hoping with all hope the have an enjoyable morning.

Just pulled into another SGL lot new to me. No vehicles here. Windy. Going for a walk. Within literally 3 minutes of priming the pan as I walked the SGL road two deer took off and headed into posted ground not far from me.Finished a 5.5 mile walk per the gps along the mtn.Walked thru various types of cover and found some sign and managed to hear one bust thru laurel and then later saw another big deer at about 100yds trot off.Found where deer where feeding and was not sure what they were feeding on so I scratched the leaves away and the only thing I saw that was not where the deer dug the leaves up were small green buds sprouting Off of roots .So the deer must have been picking off those little buds.

Had swim lessons this am. Heading home and then out for a bit. Currently 55 and partly cloudy here in 1B. Certainly the warmest late flintlock hunting I’ve ever done...

Had a GREAT morning !!!

Ended up seeing 5 bucks and 4 doe. The bucks were dogging the does HARD. The one buck, I judged to be a 3.5 year deer. He was already shed. BIG bases. The other 4 bucks were scrubs.

One of the 2 guys I had on the property this morning saw 12-15 deer with one buck. He ended up missing a 60-ish yard shot at a doe. The other fellow saw on 15" wide 3 pointer (we like to call them "Gary Alt specials"...….our breeding stock) and a bunch of squirrels.

I also saw a bald eagle this morning…………..but they're about everywhere around here, anymore.

Great day in 2D! Had 15 guys today. Slow start with only 1 shot on the first four drives. We finally found them on the last 2 drives. At least 20 deer came out of each of the last two drives and I was lucky enough to take a fat doe.

Spent most of the day hunting both from a tree stand and still hunting. Never saw a deer but found a couple spots to keep in mind for next year. Also found another nice buck skull that most likely died from EHD three years ago.

The older I get the better I was.

Saw 2 tails and a rabbit. Not sure if the warmth kept movement to a minimum, but it was rather dead here. Tons of sign...just no deer

I did come across probably 6 or 7 deer carcasses in various locations on the property. Varied from what looked to be properly butchered deer to some that had been left to rot or dumped out whole.

too warm for me to want to hunt deer today, but glad everyone was able to get out!

A bad day hunting rabbits beats a good day of anything else!
