Anything wrong with starting the post a day early??

In my area, for me, it looks like Thursday 1-9-20 will be the first and only day with snow on the ground for this years season..

It's been a bad year for me as far as being able to get in the woods during the late season, a hundred projects going on and I'm behind schedule on all of them. But, back pre season, I decided if there was snow on the ground, I'd make some mountain time..

Good luck to those taking advantage....

I kill because I'm hunting, but killing is not the reason I go hunting.

Just a dusting here. I’m planning to go out atleast in the morning but not sure where to go. It’s gonna be cold, which will make things extra crunchy and loud. So still hunting is out.

Hit a low of 5 degrees between Spartansburg and Corry this morning. Gonna be a cold one to start. Saw tons of tracks along the rod on the way to work so I envision the deer are on their feet. Good luck and stay warm to all who venture out!

Only had about an hour after work to hunt and I had my youngest son meet me. He posted and I still hunted around a big area hoping to push something his way. A group of seven does came by him with a small buck, five minutes later this nice size doe came by and he decided to take her. He hit it high on the shoulder and she dropped in her tracks using Traditions Hawkens with round ball. I apologize for the braided bed sheet gun sling, must be the hillbilly coming out in him. I also found two dead heads laying about ten feet apart, the biggest probably from the last EHD outbreak and the small one looks like from last year.

Deer were on their feet feeding at midday today. I saw deer 5 times while running trap.....most were standing only 20-30 yards off the quad trail. Seeing a lot of fawns alone now.

Headed to my grandmother's farm tonight. It's a tough place to hunt, with limited shooting lanes and sparse cover in all the wrong places, but we've managed a few deer there over the years. It was very slow until last light, when 13 doe crossed the road and headed across the property. I wasn't quite where I needed to be, and opted to pass the marginal shot that was presented. I'll give it another shot tomorrow, set up a little differently, and hope they do the same thing.

I left work a little early this afternoon. Glad I did. At 20 degrees and I stiff wind 3 deer were coming towards me near quitting time. Got this mature doe at 70 yards with my 54 cal. TC Renagade. I changed my loads this season to 75 grain of 3F Goex and use a 300gr, QT bullet. It worked well today.
