I bought this 62 cal smoothbore this past spring and killed a turkey and a coyote with it in the spring gobbler season with a load I worked up of #6 shot.
I intend to use this gun year round as a shotgun and a rifle so I worked up a load shooting a .595 roundball. So far it has proved to be very accurate out to 50 yards.
Friday afternoon while checking traps I spotted this doe bedded down watching me and when she stood up I shot. The shot was 57 yards and she went right down.
Congratulations! A fine smoothbore trophy, and a fine smoothbore!
Any chance we could see some close-ups of your build? I like the idea of using your smoothbore throughout the seasons. I've had that idea for some time myself. So far a spring gobbler is my only harvest.
You certainly made meat the old fashioned way, and again, congratulations.
Congratulations on your deer harvest with the smoothbore. They are a lot of fun to hunt everything with all year long and in every season. When you carry the same gun for everything all the time, it doesn't take long to get good at being successful with them.
