I posted this in the outfitters section but had to throw it up here for you guys too!
After 3 years in Maine with the flinter and seeing bears but not getting a shot the "God of Flinters" blessed me with a 25yd shot and score!
From 6:45pm unitl I shot at 7:30pm 3 bears came in and were either at the bait or looking at me from the bottom of the ladder stand. One was a cub and the other 2 were in the 100lb to 150 lb class. I got 20 minutes of video as the 2 larger bears visited the bait barrel. During that time you can here the hammer click and see the bear react to the sound. Even with his head in the barrel he heard it and ran off. I pulled the set trigger and she did not seem to hear that and waited for the shot.
My Lyman GPR, modified hunter barrel for lefty, 90gr. 2F 777, 5 gr 3f BP, 4f BP in pan and Lyman peeps put the 245gr aerotip PB home behind the front right shoulder, through the heart and lodging in the breast bone. The bear was standing on it's hind legs holding the bait barrel when I shot. It went about 50 yds before expiring. She weighed 120lbs before dressing and about 4.5 feet tall standing on hind legs.
I know it's "blasphemy" using 777 and PB's but it's working for me and has been a proven combination for does, a trophy buck, fallow deer and a 200lb hog.
