Dixon's Gun maker's fair end of July

I have been to Dixon's probably near a hundred times, but never made it to the Gunmaker's fair. (July 26 to 28 this year) Finally cleared things off the Calendar to make a day at the fair (Friday the 26th) I am past the kid in a candy store stage and will be looking for some specific items that might be hard to find even at Dixon's. a 3 inch think stock blank for one. ( got a 2.25 inch barrel with a 1 bore) Will need some furniture for the build too.

I'll be picking up some wood for one build and a lock, possibly a barrel (if I don't decide to order online) for another build. Finally started the .36 cal build last night, still need some inlays for it. Then of course my normal stuff I pick up and anything else that catches my eye. Will be there the 26th and 27th. I always stay at a campground down the road Thurs-Sun

You are in for a treat! There are so many vendors that are willing to speak with you at any level relative to your interest in ML that it is mind boggling.
I have not been to the Gun Makers Fair in probably 2 years but I did go there for ML supplies last summer and I bumped into Chuck Dixon in the lower parking area. A fine gentleman by any standard and a pleasure to speak with. Chuck must have spent over an hour speaking with my son and I and I treasure that conversation as having been honest, thought provoking and enlightening; just to name a few.
A Classy guy who has a lot of history in his heart and soul. Long may he wave.

Thanks for the reminder! I've only made it once, a few years back, but what a neat show to visit. I'm gonna do my best to make it again this year, as I have a few supplies I could use.

Gonna possibly be away on vacation this year, but I have made it there the last several years. We'll see if I can make it again.

For those who don't make it, you are indeed missing out, but all is not lost. There's a great show in Lewisburg in early February (18th Century Artisan Show).

But make it to Dixon's if you can. It's well worth it.

A great fair to visit. Unfortunately, will not be able to make it this year. The last Dixon's Gunmaker's Fair I visited I met Gunmaker Brad Emig(below) which ended up putting me back a few shillings!! I see Brad & Shane are scheduled to be there as always. A memorable visit indeed!!

I will be running down quick on Friday morning to drop off a powderhorn to be judged......maybe take a quick spin around and then I have to get back to work. Somehow I didn't leave myself enough vacation days to take the full day off this year. UGH.

Coming back down on Saturday and then again on Sunday though to pick up my horn and critique sheet.

Man I hope this heat wave gets through this weekend and gives us a break the following! I've been down there when its been 90 degrees and those tents can get a little soupy! LOL
