Great looking rifle, I use 70 grs fffg black powder and a .495 cast round ball on top of a pillow tick patch. Lots of pa deer fell to that load, and I won lots of woods walks with it. The builder did a great job on your rifle, should shoot as great as it looks.

Green Mtn barrel bores tend to run a little on the larger side. I've found that a .495 ball works better than a .490.

Really nice tiger stripe. Agree with 70 grains but can go higher .......... Don't need too.

Don't shoot brown ducks!!

The fun is finding what it likes to eat.RB of.490 or .445.Patch of .018 or .020.Powder of FFg or FFFg.Keep good detailed records of your combos. You should get nice clovers with that at 50yds!

Mine likes .495 with pillow ticking cut patch. I hunt with 90 grains of FF but I am trying out 70 grains of FFF.
