A start.

A short history for me.
Bought my first flinter in 13. A deerstalker.
Within in a month I was back at Dixon's buying a longrifle from the ceiling rack. This longrifle really got me hooked.
In late 13 I contracted with a builder to build me a rifle.
While waiting, I bought another from the ceiling rack at Dixon's. Then in the fall of 14 I got the call on the contract build. Picked it up that weekend and fell in love.
I was amazed that a few simple hand tools and experience could create such a beautiful slender rifle.

I have a new flint shotgun coming this week. I bought it from Tip Curtis. So i made a trip to Dixon's for some things. I got the things I needed, then talked to Greg.

The time, patience and expertise available there is incalculable. Greg thought I could start with ramrod.
Fit the brass ends first. Maybe strip them. Stain and seal them. I took his advice and bought all the things needed.

I came home and got started.
So my intro into patience, and hand eye things has started.
We'll see it where it leads.

I send them from my flip phone (old style "smart phone") to my lap top, save them in my pic file and drag them to my post.

Last year I was in Tennessee/Kentucky for work. Took an hour ride to Tip's shop and spent almost 2 hours with him learning about flintlocks. Pulled the trigger on every gun he had on the rack, prob 25 different rifles. What a great guy who loves to talk the trade and knows it inside out. Wish I had the loot to buy right then. Learned so much in my time there. And what a ---- of a shop he has. Guns, barrels, blanks, awesome. Worth the trip if in the area. If I ever make it back down I will buy one for sure

Great, that pic loaded up.
That's 1 ramrod of 2 I needed to put tips on.
It's a small start and not very hard, I know.
But I got to start some how.
I have a total of 4 rods to stripe and stain.
Got them to the first stain applied.
