Last day weather

Looks to be a really bad weather system coming in late Friday into Saturday morning in this corner of the state. Significant freezing rain being called for followed by snow. I don't mind driving in snow but a 45 mile drive in freezing rain on largely untreated roads doesn't sound too appealing. If that forecast holds up I may have to bag it. Ugh!!!

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

I went out this morning in 2D, but the snow crust is so bad, there is no way to go in quietly. I posted up and heard a squirrel that was about 125-175 yards away across a ravine. Decided not to waste energy letting the woods know where I was at.

This afternoon is my last hurrah due to work schedule. I figure it will be a sit as things are far too crunchy.

Not exactly sad I'll miss out on tomorrow and Saturdays weather. Good luck to all who choose to brave it!

I'm finishing up lunch right now and headed out. Took a half day knowing that this afternoon was probably it... Unless you have some sort of Yetti complex and like to be out in a blizzard.

Remember, shoot straight and shoot often.
Good... Bad... I'm the guy with the gun.

Yeah falling snow isn't fun for me to hunt in, especially while trying to keep the lock dry etc. Now after the snow quits, that's the time to get out in it.

Looks like the snow will be out of here mid morning. If its quiet enough I'm stalking. High winds will help with sound. Just hope the snow will be fluffy to so it keeps the ice underneath from being crunchy. If not I'll hit a blind at 3 til dark regardless. The last hurrah! A very sad day. The day of the year I hate the most by far.

Skipping out on the annual last day trip to the ANF. weather will be just too dicey at the time I can head up tonight. Gonna hunt around home instead, maybe do some pushing for friends.

Rooster Cogburn, Every post you reply to..and every picture someone posts with a doe that they killed, you always have to make the point that you do not shoot doe. Someone harvests their first flintlock kill, you respond back, I saw this many doe today, we don't shoot doe. A kid shoots his first deer (a doe) You respond with the same thing, you don't shoot doe. We get it! You don't shoot doe! Just put in your signature that you don't shoot doe! Let the hunters have their moment when they harvest a deer, be it a buck or a doe!
