Snowy day

How'd we do this morning? Did some drives and my blasted gun wouldn't go off! Twice!

I took a walk about an hour after daylight looking for tracks. Very few on my property. I pulled a card near my stand and there were 2 legal buck passed by it about an hour before daylight. One was a nice 8.

Heading out this afternoon. Deer are really hunkered down and not moving much. Yesterday walked past two that I had no chance at shooting at 11 am. Walked past them at almost 4 and they were still there.
When it warms up a bit they should really be moving! It's so crunchy almost pointless stalking.

Till I got home and got the equipment cleaned up from doing my snow removal route it was too late to get in any of my stands. Had a nice doe browsing in the back yard at 440. Would have been about a 40yd "chip shot", but I didnt feel like tracking one in the cold or butchering one up after the long day I had.

That snow combined with the cold really got the deer moving, finally.

Hunting SGL, I saw more deer today than I did during all of rifle season combined. They were all moving on their own, which is unusual during daylight hours where I hunt.
I didn't make the gun go boom, but I got it cocked twice and at one point was ready to start filling out the tag. Just couldn't get a good clear shot.
But after a rather dismal deer season, I needed some sightings to get me re-motivated.....

I kill because I'm hunting, but killing is not the reason I go hunting.
