Getting a custom flintlock

I am getting a custom flint lock built for me from a kit. This kit http://www.sittingfoxmuzzleloaders.com/k...20Longrifle.htm . It is being built for me by a good friend who does custom muzzle loaders for half price. I will post pics in the fall when it is done. I am also new to the site and flintlocks, but not new to muzzle loaders.

Re: Getting a custom flintlock

Between now and fall, you will experience a slow down in time passage as you await the completion of your first flintlock. Best of luck with your new long gun, and welcome to the unique smelling world of flintlocks and real black powder!

Re: Getting a custom flintlock

That's the way to do it and don't forget to post the pics. I have a Jim Chambers kit for sale at Dixon's. I started the gun and just don't have the time to continue. It's a Chanmers Early York with swamped Rice barrel and small Siler lock. The stock is rock maple and it should be a fine looking piece. In addition, my skills are questionable and so rather than runin the gun, I hope it goes to a good home.

Good night Chesty, wherever you are......

Remember, gunsmith months are like dog years, not measured the way you do for people.

Every day you see it on the news. Another felons life needlessly spared by inaccurate fire.
