Would you attend a shoot like this???

Ok, guy and gals. I am kinda taking a poll here. I am trying to make plans for an up coming 2 day shoot on September 17 & 18. This is what I am thinking. 5 target grand agg no re-entry, 2 25, 2 50 and a 75 yd target. first place would be $100 cash. 1 25 yd. smooth bore target 50/50, 10 target woods walk 50/50, 25 (3 or 4)and 50 (2)yd re-entry targets 50/50, traditional archery 20 target 50/50 course. Shoot would be open to all flint lock and percusion guns shooting a patched round ball with open iron sights.

What I am wondering is how many of you would be interested in coming to this shoot? Would you come? any suggestions? i need input from all of you. By the way we are located in Port Royal, Pa in Juniata County. Thanks for answering.

Re: Would you attend a shoot like this???

If I can get the rest to go along with it I wanna try the shoot. Keep an eye here for details.

Long Hunter the guy that put on that shoot last year is no longer helping at our shoots. i don't know if anyone will "replace" him or not. The woods walk however will remain in tack.

He is ok, just burned out I think. He does alot of the work with the woods walk and doesn't get the kind of help he should when he is working on it. I also know he works alot on Saturdays and us having to move our one day shoots to Saturday hurts aswell.

Re: Would you attend a shoot like this???

I've been shooting at shoots since 1978, but not as much over the last 2-3 years. I was a member of the Loyalhanna Longrifle Association out of Latrobe PA which ceased operations around the mid 1990's. We'd always have 30 to 50+ shooters at our monthly shoots and well over 80 participants at our yearly rendezvous. Our main draw was the fact that we never shot the same targets or distance in consecutive months. We had 20 shooting positions with 3 to 5 targets at each one. We'd have 15 shots at the monthly shoots and changed targets at each station monthly. We had short (10-25 yd) medium (20 to 50 yds) and long (40 to 80 yds) rangge targets and their sizes varied. By having a different course every time out it was a challange to every shooter. And all shooters felt on even footing with everyone else. I, for one, dislike shooting the same target, at the same distance and rotation every time I go to a particular shoot. At rendezvous we added a novelty match, smoothbore and other competitions. Another target that will be enjoyable is an air tank gong at 150+ yards, if you can swing it. Yes, I could find myself coming to your shooting event once or twice. But more if there is a variety of challenge.
