What A Guy

Just recently i have learned about one Lewis Wetzel.I can't believe until now that i never heard of him.I'm presently reading the book,Lewis Wetzel,Indian Fighter The Life And Times Of A Frontier Hero by C.B.Allman who was related to him.Anerican folk hero or just plain psychopath, you be the judge.Thinks were really bad in this time period 1769-1794.Another book i just got by William Hintzen, which is suppose to be the most accurate accont of Lewis Wetzel is called The Border Wars of the Upper Ohio Valley. This guy would make Daniel Boone look like a [censored] cat,LOL.I just got a picture by Andrew Knez called The False Gobbler. It shows Wetzel waiting as this indian approaches with tomahawk and rifle. He use to make false turkey calls so someone from the fort would come out and think it was a turkey, then he would kill them.Wetzel set up his own trap and finally got the indian. This event really happened. If your really into this time period with flintlocks you will enjoy these books.

Re: What A Guy

Another interesting book, not sure if pure History or some fiction, is That Dark and Bloody River, by Alan Eckert. Lewis Wetzel is painted as a hero and villian. One thing for sure, tough time and place to live in.....
