tag soup recipe

Was lookin around this morning after cleaning the flintlock and thought about giving this a shot:

1 unused backtag and 1 unused doe tag, shredded
4 quarts of dirty water from swabbing out the barrel
1/2 tube of bore butter
4 tbsp black powder solvent
3 oz chewing tobacco, finely chopped
1 bruised ego
FFFFg to taste

Simmer all ingredients until end of legal shooting hours. Serve with a helping of optimism for next season.

Not going to complain or gripe about how it's the PGC's fault because my maxi balls didn't find their mark! It was a lot of fun this season, seen over 40 deer in 5 days after Christmas in public ground in Centre County.

Re: tag soup recipe

Sounds like a good recipe. I will have to try it. If I learned how to shoot I wouldn't be trying it.

Re: tag soup recipe

I add plenty of beans and hot pepper to my tag soup so that it is as entertaining as the deer season was!

Got my invitation to Darrell's wedding in the mail today! No location on the invitation???

Re: tag soup recipe

Eatin a big bowl of it myself right now. LOL. This batch will last me well into the summer. Had a great season and saw good deer numbers- just didn't connect on the one shot I got with flint.

Re: tag soup recipe

I would add some Swiss sweetly fouled patches to the mix which would only be used during cooking/flavoring and later removed!!

Re: tag soup recipe

CampHollow that is one fine recipe

Loggy just use one of your old hunting socks to strain the patchs out of the soup, it will add a little "tang"
