PGC Response to Thank You!

Thank you for your comments on flintlocks. I am first and foremost a flintlock hunter and since the season still has a few days remaining I am thrilled to still be cradling my TC Hawkin in the crook of my elbow.

One my favorite experiences was drawing a bobcat permit several years ago. I stayed at our camp for ten days and checked my trapline carrying the flintlock in case a deer was foolish enough give me shot.

On the third day of trapping I was walking around a bend in the trail when a large doe stepped out. I dropped to one knee and made a 75-yards shot. The doe bucked and ran down hill before piling up. Standing there with the trapping basket on my back and a warm, smoking flintlock in my hand I decided this was the best moment of hunting I could experience.

I ate fresh tenderloins and backstraps right off the meat pole for the rest of the week.

Thanks for your comment and have a safe and successful flintlock season.</span>

Commissioner Martone has always replied when I have communicated via email to the Commissioners, and he has always replied personally and in detail.

First Class. Thanks for posting it up for the rest of to read.

Sadly most of my life has been wasted, but the rest I spent hunting, fishing, and trapping...

Re: PGC Response to Thank You!

We know it is a unique and special season. It is reassuring to know that our feelings about Pennsylvania's Flintlock Season, are shared by Commissioner Martone. I'm sure he can visualize every second of that encounter, and it must be one of his best hunting memories, and it was a doe with "0" Boone and Crocket points!

Thanks for sharing, Bunky!

Only received this one letter Loggy but I would bet so. At least we all have a contact who we all know has a passion for our most sacred of seasons.

Don't be to sure about that. I got an email from him as well regarding the flinlock only season. I'll leave it at that for now.
