Looking for a good shop.

Anyone know of any decent muzzleloader shops in western PA. I live in southern armstrong county and was wondering if there were any specialty shops around that I don't know about. You hear about Dixon's in the east all the time. Anything like that out here?

Re: Looking for a good shop.

I'm no traditional hunter but I recall a place in Lodi, Ohio, just east of Akron. About 2 hours from the Barkeyville exit on I-80. Hope that helps.

Nothing that I know of. The only shop around that carries alot of muzzeloader stuff is McCrea's on 422. A specialty shop would be nice!

Yeah it would be nice. You're very limited around here. Sportsman Supply has some stuff but not much. Never looked at Schultz's in Apollo so I don't know about them.

I've never been there but I've heard good things about Cooperstown Trading Post off of Route 8 south of Butler.

Re: Looking for a good shop.

Back in the mid 1970's muzzleloader shops sprung up like mushrooms. A wane in the interest in muzzleloaders and the internet killed many of them. There were some really good shops, that just couldn't make it. Just in SE PA, I can think of 9 or 10 shops that no longer exist.

Re: Looking for a good shop.

Thanks Jester. I needed some good English flints but I was able to find "ok" ones at Sportsman Supply. I really want to check out Cooperstown Trading Post. I went to the website and it looks pretty interesting.

Re: Looking for a good shop.

I have the good fortune of living close to Dixon's. Closer to the middle of the state is Fort Chambers in Chambersburg. Real nice shop and it's got the goodies.
