TC Renigade help

New to this forum...
I am getting a 50 cal renigade( I had one years ago) and would like input from other owners as to thier ammo and load of powder. When I last shot my old renigade I was using sabots. With this new one I want to start out right. I know "right" might not be everyones "right", just would like input, THANKS

Re: TC Renigade help

I have had mine since 1982, have tried a few different loads over the years. I just keep it simple with .490 rb .015 prelubed patch over 80 grs. of 3f.
This load has been very effective for me on whitetails over the years.

My Renegade likes .490 PRB and 80 grains ffg, and 320 gr T/C maxi-balls and 85 grains ffg.

Got my invitation to Darrell's wedding in the mail today! No location on the invitation???

What is your effective range with those loads?

Re: TC Renigade help

I had a kit flinter renegade from the middle 70's
shot 90 to 95 gr. 3f with Hornady R/B excellent
I find t/c barrels not having deep cut rifling with shoot it best with heavy charges of powder

Re: TC Renigade help

With my 50 cal. renegade I use 90 gr. of Goex 2f with .490 rb and a .015 patch. for me my max distance for deer with the 50cal is 50 yds.

My 54 cal renegade I use 100 gr of Goex 2f with a .530 rb and .015 patch. my Maxium distance with the 54cal. is 75 yds. These are my hunting loads, I usually only use about 50 grains of powder at the muzzleloading meets. no sense of wasting powder.
AS far as shooting conicals both mine like T/C maxi balls the best. never could get much accuracy out of the t/c maxi hunters.

I have mine sighted in at 80 yds. Although I have killed a few just beyond that.
That is about my max with open sights and steady rest.

Most shots usually under 50.
