I want to compare how my .54 PRB perfoms with the pre-cut/lubed pillow ticking patch that I use compared to a patch cut at the barrel with a home made lube.
I went and picked up a yard of pillow ticking, but I dont have a recipe for the lube. Thusly the point of this post, Please share your lube recipe if you use a home made lube and how you prep the patch, ie apply before shooting or pre apply and let dry. The more the merrier and Thanks!
You can use anything that is not petrolium base for a lube.Olive oil,Crisco,Mink oil, etc.
Here is a recipe I like to use.
Stumpkiller's Moose Milk
Isopropyl Alcohol (91%) 8oz
Caster Oil 3oz
Murphy's oil soap 1oz
Witch Hazel 4oz
Add in above order and shake well in jar.
Add your hand washed and dried Pillow Tic.Lay on flat surface(cookie sheet)to dry.Once dry I dip a 2x.
After dry I cut into squares for the caliber of use.
I sub the Caster Oil with Bear Oil.
