Re: Monday

I haven't hunted regular rifle season in the last 6-7 yrs. But back when I did, I carried either my .50 or .54 cal flint

Re: Monday

This year will be the first time in 7 years that I will chose to not use my bow in rifle season. I will be carrying my Motto built Dickert 50 cal. flintlock.

Re: Monday

Normally don't even go centerfire season at all but I am going to take my first deer with a .243 this year. Need to find out for myself what the .243 does for deer. At 60 I am running out of seasons so I want do it this year. I have 2 tags so I will take one in flinter season with the other.

Re: Monday

I'll be hunting near Shohola in Pike County with my long time friend. We'll both be toting our flintlocks built by Brad Emig, a .50 cal. Yorktown for my friend, and a trusty .54 cal. for me.

Good luck to all.

I don't practice enough with my .50 flint to trust it on the first day. Good luck to those that are. I'm 67 and need to put a deer in the freezer so I'll be using either a .243 bolt or a .35 lever. Mossie, you don't need to worry about that .243. It'll do a good job.

Thank God I'm an American, and not a democrat!

Re: Monday

Sorry BP, I have not got out enough to fill a tag, so first day will be the Savage 300 Meatmaster.

Once I fill a DMAP or buck, it will be the 50 cal. Dickert or 54 cal. pistolo!

Re: Monday

35 Whelen or 300WSM for me, but once buck hunting is done, the 62-cal Martin-built rifle comes out!
