Just took the plunge

I just recently purchased a TC 45 cal Hawken flintlock, my first, at a good price from a good friend. Don't know if I'll be able to hunt with it this year because of a recent heart surgery but am still excited because I finally got one. Now I have to wait a whole year to use it but that's ok. Can't wait

My name is Moss and i'm a turkey huntin' addict

Re: Just took the plunge

Wish you a speedy comeback as well.
But don't wait until next year to use it.
There is a learning curve with flint locks that takes some range time to assimilate.
Folks who wait until the week before the hunt to shoot their flinter end up extremely frustrated. Learning the fine points of consistent loading and ignition takes range time. It can make the difference between a flawless shot and the one that got away.

Besides that, range time with a muzzle loader is relaxing and slow paced. May be just the ticket for recovery.
