Day 5..... Dec 31

I think I'm getting the hang of this flintlock deal.

This gal walked about 60 yards in front of the Mountain rifle a bit after 8:00 this morning. Dropped where she stood. So my second ever flinter deer 4 days after my first.

This is REALLY getting addictive.........and I'm outta tags.

Nice. No hunting for me today, need to rest. My knees are bothering me. Hope to be out tomorrow and will definitely be out on Friday and Saturday.

My brother & my wife's uncle will be hunting tomorrow & Saturday. I get the distinct feeling I'm gonna be doing LOTS of walking.

Re: Day 5..... Dec 31

Congrats!

Set up in the fork of a blow down this A.M. Just breaking daylight and I see white flashes in the thicket. Instantly knew it was one of the two piebalds that I had seen throughout the summer. Picked up the binoculars and picked up the piebald's mother up in front. They then passed by at 60 yds. Neighbor landowner and I agreed that we would not shoot the piebalds or mothers to them this year.

Only could hunt til 9 A.M. and with the coldness and wind gusts I talked myself into that there was no more deer going to come by. Stepped out of the blowdown at 8:45 and watched a deer wheel and throw its white flag up and head back the way it came.

Oh well. Still was nice to be out for a few hours.

I remember the day you told me that muzzleloaders were terrible wounders! Way to go!
