Set up in the fork of a blow down this A.M. Just breaking daylight and I see white flashes in the thicket. Instantly knew it was one of the two piebalds that I had seen throughout the summer. Picked up the binoculars and picked up the piebald's mother up in front. They then passed by at 60 yds. Neighbor landowner and I agreed that we would not shoot the piebalds or mothers to them this year.
Only could hunt til 9 A.M. and with the coldness and wind gusts I talked myself into that there was no more deer going to come by. Stepped out of the blowdown at 8:45 and watched a deer wheel and throw its white flag up and head back the way it came.
Oh well. Still was nice to be out for a few hours.
