Grandson and .243

Great day today with my 10 year old grandson shooting his new .243. had a ball shooting water jugs and steel. I was worried about recoil and noise, but we worked through it and had ALOT of fun!

That's great BP. Is he going hunting with you this fall?

Listen, or your tongue will make you deaf.

"When a pine needle falls in the forest, the eagle sees it, the deer hears it, and the bear smells it."
an old First Nations saying

243 is awesome!!! Got my first 243 at 11 years old. 38 years later I'm still shooting stuff with it, my daughter shot her first buck with it. Excellent caliber. Hammers deer !

Awesome !

...243 is a great all around caliber.

Was he shooting factory or re-loads?

factory for now. shot the reduced recoil, but I don't think there is much difference.

If recoil is an issue load 22 gr IMR 4198 with a sierra or hornady single shot 80 gr pistol bullet. No recoil kills deer within 200 yd. fine . On top of powder put small ball of kapok type filler down in case on top of powder. These bullets are designed to work in the velocity range you will be getting.
