Re: Looking for Disabled Rabbit Hunter.

I'm not quite sure where you mean in North West Pennsylvania, that covers a big territory.

What county are you talking about?

Speaking for myself, there isn't a lot of places left in Jefferson County anymore where you can still legally hunt rabbits! Most of the places I hunted 40 yrs ago, now has houses built there, or is in a safety zone, posted, or it grew up and now there is deer where there was once rabbits!

The last time I hunted Willow Run - Indiana County, I spent half the day looking for my beagle - because it chased a deer 3 miles! I ended up driving the truck through a pine tree plantation, ripping off the front air dam in the process. I said "Never Again"! That was 2009 - the last time I hunted rabbits!

Hi Mr. Jerbo.

I live in Erie county, and hunt primarily in Erie, Crawford, and Mercer county although I'm open to hunting anywhere there are bunnies. My most handicapped accessible properties are in Erie county.

Years ago, I had problems similar to you with deer chases and lost dogs. Now, with the advent of gps track and train units, these issues are no longer a problem.

Re: Looking for Disabled Rabbit Hunter.

Good Luck and thanks for the offer.
Those would be some pretty expensive rabbits.
When I was a kid, we had a beagle that ate table scraps.
We hunted close to home - in the back yard as a matter of fact, and rabbits were everywhere.
When the woods grew up, the rabbits moved close to the houses, where you shouldn't or couldn't hunt.
The deer took over everything else.

My last dog died about two months before my mom in 2011 and I have no desire or ability to get another one.
My mom and my sister took care of my dog for me.

Had there been an opportunity to go close to home, I would have been interested. But I have a hard time standing in one place and it is almost impossible to hunt somewhere other than the mowed windrows in the game lands.
