Tuscarora Bears

Who's hunting the Tuscarora State Forest (4B) Bears?

There are a few around. Heard the PGC was tagging them this summer. I got a few trail cam pics of some this summer as well.

Shoot some coyotes as well. Heard them howling and yippin a couple days last week.

Re: Tuscarora Bears

I was going to, but was unsure where to hunt. Where have you been hearing coyotes? We have a cabin on the Eastern side of Tuscarora SF off laurel run rd, have yet to hear coyotes. Considered hunting them, and have only seen 1 over towards the ranger station. Also, I saw a couple piles of bear crap, out towards the western point towards the turnpike, but nothing I'd consider saying was a hot spot. Where have you heard/seen the bears are? Have yet to see one in 4B

Re: Tuscarora Bears

Fowlers Hollow for both bears and coyotes. Been about 4 yrs since I heard the last coyotes. Last year (2011) I saw a male bear and 2 different sows with 2 cubs each during Archery Deer. Saw 1 male bear during Archery Deer season this year. Have trailcam pics of 2 bears mauling my cameras this past summer.

Re: Tuscarora Bears

Nice. I met a guy on HPA from over that way, has a cabin near hemlock road. We hunt with him now, and has become a good friend. We will be deer hunting up there opening day.

Re: Tuscarora Bears

Last year there was a bear gang that drove the Tuscarora from Millerstown west towards Donnellys Mills and took 4. I had a young bear with ear tags climb up into my stand while archery hunting this fall. Good luck, there are plenty around.

Re: Tuscarora Bears

I am on the eastern side of Perry, and I have yet to see a bear. I hunt over on the south western side for deer, and did see some bear crap. But, I used to hunt in Pike County and saw lots of bears. I have a bear crew for driving this year in the Jim Thorpe area, but would love to consider hunting Perry next year. Any help I can get where to look for bears is much appreciated. We have 22 guys for this year right now that I know of. Looking to make it a yearly thing.

Re: Tuscarora Bears

Perry...I'd love to hunt bears in the Tuscarora this year; but unfortunately, I have other non-hunting commitments. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
