Taking a bear with a bow is not something that comes easy. I hunt with 3 guys regularly and decisions that were made last night make me proud to call them friends.
Around 4:00 a sow with 3 cubs came out into the field, all of us had the opportunity at one point or another to take her or one of them. NONE even drew back.
Around 5:00 I had a 200lb male about 55yds from me, but opted to pass due to length of shot. Found out one of the other guys had a bigger bear about the same distance and also chose to pass.
It makes me proud to know that some of the people around me carry the same ethics as me and it bodes well for their welcome to continue on the farms.
It also makes me wonder.........how many others would have just slung an arrow?
Pick your hunting partners carefully guys and remember, it sometimes only takes one incident to find out who they really are inside. Three guys passed up the opportunity to do what many say can't be done without baiting because their better judgement kicked in. Can you say the same about yourself and your partners?
