7mm-08 for bear?

This will be my first year hunting bears. Does anyone have experience with bears and a 7-08? I have a box of 140 gr Federal Fusions, 140 gr Core Lokts, and a box of 139 gr Hornady SST. I'm pretty sure I am going to use the Fusions. Just want to make sure I am taking enough gun. Thanks for the help

Load it with good bullets that shoot well, and if you do your part, the 7mm-08 will do the job just fine.

I think I'm an alright guy, I think I'm alright

Enough gun, if people say otherwise, don't get sucked in. as long as you put the round through the lung/heart area with that round, you'll be eating bear roasts....And use the Fusions if they are a shooter in your gun. bonded bullets will generally outperform cup and core bullets for deep penetrating, however, I wouldn't be against using any of the loads you listed.

The more people that I meet, the more I love my dog

Just like any other gun make the first shot count.

I agree shoot placement is everything, the 7-08 is a good round for bear

7mm 08 will more than adequately do the job for bear. It did the job at 400 yards for my Newfoundland Moose last year.

Some will say it is light but I think a good hit will equal a bear. Most any caliber ok for whitetails will work for black bears aslong as it is above 22 caliber in my humble opinion.

I'm using the 7mm-08 for bear this year. A good hit in the vitals will easily bring one down for you. Good luck!

I shot a 617 pound bear with a 7mm08, trust me it worked just fine!

A haiku is just like a normal American poem, except it doesnt rhyme and is totally stupid.

Re: 7mm-08 for bear?

I'd use something more toughly constructed than the SST.
