It's almost time!
Normally my most anticipated trip to Camp Bear Butt is for rifle deer opener. But since I have already gotten a nice buck in archery, and I am unable to use my 2F doe tag until the second week in rifle season (I realize that Icould use my 2F doe tag in archery, but having 2.5 yr old and 2.5 month old boys, I really need to limit and pick & choose my trips to camp), I am impatiently looking forward to the Bear opener this year!
The plan is to head down Friday afternoon 11/16 - if I get there early enough, I may even take the bow for a walk since bear archery will still be in. I have a bunch of guys going down, including my dad. We'll hunt hard Saturday, relax on Sunday and most likely make the trip into town to take in some NFL action. Hit the woods hard again on Monday, and then depending on how it goes, back to reality on Tuesday.
I plan on making a nice big batch of my "Boss Buck Chili" for everyone, plus tons of other camp staples.
I just wanted to share how much I'm looking forward to the getaway, the commradre, and most of all, the hunt! Here's a pic of the bear our crew harvested last year, dressed out at 311, if I remember correctly.
Good luck to all Pa Bear hunters this season, have fun and be safe!
