Shot one, now what?

Okay so I'm back in the woods a little piece and I shoot a 300, 400 or 500 pound bear. How in the sam hill do I get him outta the woods? Deer cart? I hear they are a bear to drag! Pun intended!!

If you continue to do what you're doing, you'll only get what you have gotten.

If there are guys in the area, hopefully they'd be glad to lend a hand!

Re: Shot one, now what?

Shoot a smaller one, much easier to get out

We have hauled 3 deer out at one time on Cabela's magnum deer cart 2 IL bucks and a doe, 2 miles from the parking area. One guy on each side of card and the 3rd guy in the lead with rope and solid limb for a pulling bar.

Probably would work for a 300/350 lbs. bear, larger may be to bulky.

Sounds like a good problem to have 500 Lb. bear down.

BEST OF LUCK IN THE PURSUIT!

well first thing is to make sure your at the top of the hill when you shootem...
next is a plastic sled. Ive drug bear on deer carts and its like a blob of jelly your constantly readjusting. I killed a 400 and used the sled and it was pretty easy with 4 guys dragging..
last year we got a 160 lber and i used a length of fallen branch and strapped the legs around it and 2 of us carried it out..covered in orange of course... we didnt want to pull any hair out dragging it.

Chain hoist or come-along thats how I got my 360 pounder out with the bear wrapped in the tarp. I dragged my 160 pounder with all my orange on the bear. A couple guys thought that was hilarious and snapped some pics.

Re: Shot one, now what?

We typically use a steel pole with a heavy-duty truck chain attached. Two guys on each side (when possible) and it's not too bad!

Re: Shot one, now what?

Last year my buddy shot a 327lb. We used a deer cart and had 10 guys. We just all took turns.
