Fayette/Somerset Bear report

Hi just looking to get an early start to my scouting in Fayette/Somerset area, how's the mast crop? I have been hearing Warren/McKean this year mast is fantastic but I love the southern mountains, and George, yes there is bears in them there hills! Thanks for any help, or PM me with specifics, I hunt alone so won't be infringing on anyone.

Re: Fayette/Somerset Bear report

51 seems to always have action, as well as quebec. I have heard there is good sign through Ohiopyle and the game lands that is not too far from there. Quebec will certainly see its share of hunters. But I am looking hard at 231 and 50 in somerset. i have a few brutes on cam this year...

Re: Fayette/Somerset Bear report

I have hunted 51, that's were people on this site send city folks, the above post is more accurate, try anywere but 51, knock on doors and ask permission with the land owner, they don't mind bear hunters versus deer hunters. I also would go to Mt. Davis area or Laurel ridge state park and walk the trail system.
