Would you shoot a bear in York Co?

There has been a bear hanging around my dad's place in southern York County for a few weeks now. The neighbors have a bunch of pictures of him coming up on their porch. I'm guessing he is afer the cat food or bird feeder. Anyway, the PGC has had a trap out for a couple weeks, but hasn't caught him yet. If he his living where I think he is, it is in the river hills surrounded by hundred of acres of corn. He not hurting anything except for tearing down a bird feeder and pulling some cloths off of their cloths line. It's not very often we get bears in that area. I think the last one was about 10 years ago and I'm not sure whatever happened to that one. My question is....would you guys hunt this bear or just let him be?

You can shear a sheep many times, but you can only skin it once.

Are you asking about legally harvesting a bear during the proscribed season?

No, I know it is legal. I was just wondering if personally, you would shoot it since they are rarely in the area?

If it's in season and leagal I would send a T-3 his way or a Winchester silver tip down range. Don't see a problem with it as long as it's leagal. That bear is a wild animal ,and there is a season for them, and not a pet or tourist attraction. From the handbook...

BLACK BEAR (WMUs 2B, 5B, 5C and 5D) archery: Sept. 29-Nov. 10. Only 1 bear may be taken during the license year.

BLACK BEAR (WMUs 2B, 5B, 5C and 5D) muzzleloader: Oct. 13-20. Only 1 bear may be taken during the license year.

BLACK BEAR (WMUs 2B, 5B, 5C and 5D): Oct. 18-20. Junior and Senior License Holders, Disabled Person Permit (to use a vehicle) Holders, and Pennsylvania residents only serving on active duty in U.S. Armed Services or in the U.S. Coast Guard. Also included are persons who have reached or will reach their 65th birthday in the year of the application for a license and hold a valid adult license, or qualify for license and fee exemptions under section 2706.

BLACK BEAR (WMUs 2B, 5B, 5C and 5D): Nov. 26-Dec. 8. Only 1 bear may be taken during the license year.

Honesty is my only excuse.

I live in 2B and I'm keeping track of the bears in 2B. If I get a chase to drop one when I'm out with the muzzleloader or bow I will but I will not go out after them.

Since the PGC is already trying to remove the bear as a nusiance animal, you would be doing everyone in the area a favor if you shot it in season if still around. Probably save someone from hitting it with a vehicle.
