Back from Alberta bear hunt......(pics)

Well...after a long flight, I am back from my black bear hunt in Alberta, Canada with Alberta Backwoods Outfitters.

We had a great time and an even better hunt. We had 6 hunters in camp and 12 tags total. We killed 7 bears and passed up many along the way. Once everyone filled their first tag, most started trophy hunting, or we could have easily tagged out during the week long hunt.

It was a great trip and would recommend it to anyone looking for an exciting adventure. We stayed in tents out in the bush...roughed it for the most part for 8 days.

There will be another group of guys going up next year with some openings for interested hunters.

Here is a pic of the snow cap mountains just south of Calgary on our way up. We connected a flight in Calgary before moving onto Fort McMurray.

I smoked this boar on Tuesday evening. 12 yard shot and 15 yard recovery. I whacked him with the new Rage Chisel Tip - 100 gr. 2 blade. The Rage held up great and absolutely tore him up.

Pic of him at camp where the outfitters prep all bears for the hero shots the next morning.

Here are a few pics of camp...

One of the guides getting a bear ready for pics...

We dont know the story behind this, but the one bear was tagged with a "do not eat" tag. LOL

Here is a random pic of my killing machine...just hanging out at camp

You can say what you want about ThermaCELL's, but if we didnt have these with us...we honestly would have not been able to hunt. The misquitos were as big as my thumb.

The "do not eat" tag could be the result of the bear being tranquilized and moved close to the season opening.

I only shoot 60 #s and that new Rage Chisel point went in at the crease behind the shoulder and exited thru the opposite shoulder with a complete pass thru.

I have to admit...I was very impressed. That bear never had a chance. It hit the ground upon impact...then stumbled enough to roll about 15 yds before piling up. Cut the top of the heart right off. The guide was sitting behind me in a stand...he said he could see the blood squirting out the exit hole as it stumbled away. I hope the HD video shows it once we get it processed.

Thanks for all the comments...we had a great time.

Congrats on a great bear! Thanks for sharing your pics. I got the thermacell free when I bought my winchester ammo at Cabelas. Nice to know it works!
