I would like to start putting in for a PA bull elk tag this year. Whats the average wait time to be drawn. Some guys i talk to say 10 years +. Also whats an average guide cost. I just want to have some idea of what im gettin into since its a once in a lifetime thing. Thanks for all the help.
Figure roughly 1 in 1,000 chance of drawing a bull tag without taking in the bonus points that other applicants have. Realistically your chances of drawing in your lifetime are slim, but then again someone has to draw. Start applying and then worry about the guide when you have the tag. Good luck!
wouldn't the odds be more like 1 in 18000 and that just get larger every year? I have been trying for 2 years now. I mean lets face it where else can you get a guide by a tag and hunt an elk for under 1800 bucks that isn't in a pen?

There are roughly 18,000 applicants for 18 bull tags. That equates to a 1 in 1,000 chance of drawing a bull tag without taking account of the points applicants have. I can't find any information about how many people have points anywhere on the PGC website.
