Question about bears

While out walking in the woods I found an area about the average size of a living room that had about 20-25 piles of scat. The land is state property, My question is what is the legality of putting out corn and putting out a trail camera? If it is legal would corn be my best option or is there a better attractant to bring it in?. I would love to get some pictures and with the amount of sign in such a small area am pretty sure I could with out bait, but it might take longer, and with people starting to be in the woods more, I don't want my camera to dissapear.

Re: Question about bears

State land or no state land, it's illegal to feed bears. Period.

I think I'm an alright guy, I think I'm alright

Re: Question about bears

Thank you for the answer. Do you think me walking through the area mooved the bear out of there or could there possible have been a den there and the bear comes out, does its business and then goes back in? Like I said all of it's waste is in a very small area. When I walked 20 yds away there was no sign at all.

Re: Question about bears

Maybe they just like that area for a toilet. I have 3 in my home, but I like one better than the rest. LOL

Re: Question about bears

dont feed the bears. go for a hike every now and then.

stop for a rest and a bite to eat, get up to leave and just forget the three dozen krispy creme donuts you took with you.

gotta be a trail somewhere...set the camera up on the trail, look for toilet paper.

Re: Question about bears

go to your local bar and ask them when the next time they are going to change the grease in their deep fryers is. Return to area with with said bear scat and dump grease on stumps and under and in the cracks of the biggest rocks you can find. The bear wont go anywhere and you will get tons of pictures. Trust me.

Re: Question about bears

Forget the feeding and just go to the area with your camera and get some pictures..You do not need food to attract a bear..If you bait the bear in and some poacher runs into the area and shoots the bear then you are fined too.
