Elk Hunters, are you ready?

Hope you guys hve been hitting the range. I go out to Colorado next month. Been hitting the range at 100, 200, and 300 yards.

I have a Boone and Crockett reticle on my 300 Ultra. I'm ready out to 300 yards! I haven't had time to fire it any further.

Best of luck to all of you!!

Re: Elk Hunters, are you ready?

I leave on the 19th, headed to Idaho through the Nov 7th. Have a Bull tag along with a wolf tag. My 338 is dead on at 200yds. Oh and this time I will be ready, I have been running about 30 miles a week.

A friend of mine just returned from a bow hunt in the same area. Said there were plenty of elk, and no other hunters..

Don't Gobble at me...

I'm going to Durango. Outfitter talked to me a week or so ago, while it was archery. Said he had a lot of archers that wished they had rifles. Were seeing a lot of good bulls, but at long distances.

Re: Elk Hunters, are you ready?

Should be a good rifle season if the weather cooperates. I just got back from bow hunting NW Colorado and the bulls weren't even bugling yet. The aspens are still mostly green. I had two decent bulls within 25yds but couldn't get a clear shot at either.
Good luck with your rifle hunt John.

Re: Elk Hunters, are you ready?

awhile I know I have plenty of gun in my 300 Ultra, a buddy took a nice elf in New Mexico a few years back with a 270.

Your 180 grn 30 cal is the same bullet I am shooting.....mine is just doing what yours does at the muzzle...at over 400 yds!!

You've got plenty of gun!! Good Luck!!
