Time for the yearly bear gun thread. What's everyone's weapons of choice. Browning a bolt 300 win mag shooting 180gr partitions. Or remington 7600 30-06 shooting 180gr fusions. Plus have a Taurus 44 mag shooting 240gr xtps.
For me it will be a Kimber Montana in .300 WinMag topped with a Leupold VX3 in 3.5-10x. I am shooting 180 grain Winchester Power points and my boots will be on the ground in Clinton County this year.
My dad bought me my first rifle a savage model 110 in a 3006 when I was 14 and used it till I was 17. At 17 I purchased my own rifle and never carried the 06’ again. Well... this past winter I was bored so I ordered a bell and Carlson medalist stock for it and a new athlon Midas scope. I just finished a load for it shooting 165 Barnes TTSX. 1 ragged hole. So I’m excited to show my dad the facelift I gave the old girl.
I'm normally a designated driver, so I tote just my Taurus Raging Bull 44 Magnum, pushing factory Federal 240gr soft points. I did get a new toy this year that I'll take along on the off chance that I stand for a drive. It's a Ruger American Ranch in 450 Bushmaster, shooting the Hornady 250gr FTX. Definitely a powerful little beast, and not too bad to carry.
This is my new bear rig...A Rem 7600 carbine in .35 Whelen shooting 200 gr Federal fusions. I topped it with a Leupold 1.5-4X with the "pig plex" (circle x) reticle. It shoots pretty good..
I'm going to be hunting them during the last 2 days of the extended 3B season. I'll have my 870 12 gauge shooting Lightfields and my Savage 110 in 30-06, shooting 180 grain Core-Lokts...all depends on where I'm sitting for the day.
