I've been hearing about Greene Co. bears for a few years now... If I recall a kid shot one there last year on the last day of rifle season?

Yes. We now have resident populations in every county in he southwest corner of the state.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

I was looking over the PGC harvest maps the other day for the last several years. Pretty telling story of how they have spread into new areas.

Here in MD they have been steadily pushing east the last few years as well.

Couple weeks ago we had a bear sighting local to me in Carroll county MD, at Liberty reservoir which borders Baltimore county. Last year I know there was a roadkill bear east of me, can't remember if it was Baltimore or Harford county. I never would have imagined bears spreading here.

Reports of coyotes, but I haven't seen it heard any.

I am not so sure we have full time residents in Washington county. For sure bears passing thru the area but not sticking around.

If bear populations are going up in SW PA, what is causing that?

There are populations there, and there are steadier populations in Western Fayette as well... seeing bears killed in German, Menallen, Redstone, Perry Townships every year now. I have cameras in some of these locations. Problem is there is too much food. If its not in a farmers field, they have plenty of opportunities to knock a trash can over.

A young kid did kill one last year with a rifle in Greene County.
