Check Stations : Youth and Sr. Hunt this week

Two part question because I really cant find the answer.

If my son were to get a Bear as a Junior Hunter late this week are the normal check station open or do you need to call the game commission to come to your location to check it?

Secondly a mentored hunter doesnt fall into the special firearms season or do they?

Hunters harvesting bears during the statewide archery, muzzleloader, or special firearms bear season or during any early season should contact the appropriate Game Commission region office for instructions to have the animal checked.

The mentored youth hunter could hunt a doe (antlerless) but not bear.

(c) Species limitation.
(1) A mentored youth’s hunting eligibility is restricted to the following species: cottontail rabbit, mourning dove, squirrel, woodchuck, coyote, deer and wild turkey. Except as provided in this paragraph, mentored youth hunting permits will be issued with an antlered deer harvest tag and a spring turkey harvest tag. Harvest tags will not be issued to mentored youth applicants who are under 7 years of age at the time of application. (2) A mentored adult’s hunting eligibility is restricted to the following species: squirrel, ruffed grouse, rabbit, pheasant, bobwhite quail, hares, porcupine, woodchuck, crow, coyote, antlerless deer and wild turkey. Mentored adult hunting permits will be issued with a spring turkey harvest tag.

I spoke with pgc last night about checking my muzzleloader bear. There are going to be normal check stations open for the remainder of this week. Call your regional office and they'll tell you where and what the hours are. Good luck
