Hit one today

Unfortunately, it was with my company van.

Just riding down RT 8 between Union City and Centreville (just into Crawford county) at 11:30 this morning. A cornfield is on my left and it grows right up for the road.

I'm doing about about 55mph and a bear about 200 lbs runs out of the corn at a dead run. I stand on the brakes, and the bear runs into the side of my truck right under the driver's door handle. In the rear view mirror I see it flop around a couple of times and run into the goldenrod on the opposite side. I turned around and at my skid marks (on the road, not my pants) I found nothing.

Absolutely crazy. First time I've ever been less than 2 feet from a live bear.....

It wasn't too bad. Funny thing is a deer ran into me on the same side last November and made a bigger dent. Boss won't fix it as I have 178k on the ticker.
