Bear hunters!

Good luck! It is shaping up to be ideal for the first day this year for a change. Fresh snow, cold temps in much of the bear range. I wish you all well and can't wait to see some harvest photos. I don't bear hunt in Pa but maybe some day I will become part of a gang.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

Agreed the conditions do look very promising for Saturday. I'm new to bear hunting so my chances of success are very slim, but am looking forward to spending a day in the woods none the less. Good luck to everyone headed out this season!

I think a few inches of snow is ideal but looks to be a lot of snow going to hit the northern tier. I think that may deter gangs from going back in to their normal driving grounds. Good luck to all.

My gang broke up at the last minute. Looks like we will be getting back together to hunt Monday. Still really looking forward to Saturday. Going with my brother. We plan on doing a lot of little drives and posting when we need a break. Our goal is to not leave the woods all day.
Itís tough getting a bear down here in the SW part of the state. Especially if you arenít in a gang. With that being said I am still optimistic. Pretty much feel that way no matter what I am hunting. Itís just in my nature.
Coyote will be on our radar too. Seeing a bunch of them this year.
Good luck to everyone heading out .

Forecast remained unchanged from early this morning. Not good for this area as it appears will be tough conditions in these counties. 6" or less would be ok but hate seeing that 10" on upside. Could also be dealing with heavy surface crust if ending with sleet & freezing rain.

1151 AM EST Thu Nov 15 2018

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM EST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow
accumulations of 7 to 10 inches and ice accumulations of up to
one tenth of an inch are expected.

* WHERE...Elk, Cameron, Northern Clinton, Northern Lycoming and
Sullivan Counties.

* WHEN...Now through 8 AM EST Friday. Heavy snow will move in
from the south and continue at varying intensities through the
day and this evening, possibly mixing with sleet at times. A
brief period of freezing rain is possible. The precipitation
will likely end as a second period of heavy snow tonight into
early Friday.

Few acorns left in 2g where we hunt. No beechnuts this year. Haven’t seen bear sign up top all archery. With lack of food many may have denned early, especially if they fattened up when the acorns were around. Hunt food, hunt low, above corn and soy would be good. We’re skipping the north woods and hunting south this Saturday.

My favorite bear season at camp it rained all day. We piled in the truck and spent the day hitting all the gun shops. Fun stuff!!!

Recent intel is positive with multiple bears recently in the areas we hunt.

Should have a decent number of hunters in our gang. This will be my 13 year old daughter's first bear gang. I'm excited for her.
