Extended Bear Season

I have a 2-part question - I will be hunting 2C for bear. If I want to hunt the extended bear season Nov 28 to Dec 1, do I need to have a valid tag tag other than an unfilled bear tag to be hunting? I have already taken a buck this year.

2nd - has anyone hunted the extended season and had luck? Do you feel that you see more bear on the move because of more hunters in the field?

thanks
TT

You do not need to have any other type of tag as long as you still possess a valid bear tag.

I hunted it last year and I seen more bear sign then I did during the actual bear season. As far as harvesting goes you can check the harvest reports from last year, there are still quite a few bear harvested in the extended season.

Where do you plan on going in 2C?

We were scouting Quebec run this past weekend and saw very few acorns and no bear sign. I love those woods but might have to reconsider.

2C/2A... I have some spots in 2A that have way bette bear sign then those in 2C.

I saw some fresh tracks in the snow up Quebec this past weekend but that's all I saw. They are around but not like they usually are, acorns are still around but definitely are not the greatest Ive seen them.

I was thinking of scouting around whitetail trail and by laurel caverns. I think quebec run is too heavily used by bikers/hikers/et al. Don't see nearly the bear as we used to.

I'm with beer valley he hit the nail on the heat acorns are gone and i'd say a lot of the bear moved on. Early season when i scouted it there was a lot of sign but monday afternoon i took a trip to check the ridge i normally hunt and there were almost no acorns! With that being said I'm not sure where to go. May try to find a gang to drive with.

Those woods are too big to drive. A few years ago, a group of young guys used to do their best pushing the hollow near rankin trail. They even had a boombox. Someone said they were from Ligonier. They had a big one on camera around our camp but I heard they got a big one by Thurby road in archery. Thinking about Laurel Caverns, laurel run aroea of Quebec, or Plantation trail. Not sure.
