College Bear hunting help

Well heres the deal.... i go to pitt johnstown and am a freshmen. I've been bear hunting for a few years and love getting out. With limited time and money i was wondering if anyone would point me towards gamelans with good number of bears (228?) maybe? Or possible private land! Anything helps Pm me with any info or reply below. Thanks

one of the things I've done in the past is call the PGC and ask to get in touch with the bear biologist and local Game Warden for your area. they can be a big help.

R.S.B. (Dick Bodenhorn) help point me in the right direction and my son managed to tag a nice 200lb bear when he was 15, actually, because of that bear, he got the triple trophy.

Thanks again R.S.B.

That has been a while ago.

But, yes the Game Warden can often point you in the right direction.

State Games lands above Beaverdale which is about 20 minutes from you and also State Gamelands 42. If you find the feed you will find the bears.

Chestnut oaks seem to be all the rage in SW pa this year for bears. Its quite a bumper crop. SGL 42 is pretty solid for bears. The access off of rt 271 is not far from Johnstown. Just check the ridges until you find chestnut oaks or white oaks (which seem to be producing but to a lesser degree). Then find some cover and then find some water. Find all 3 of those things in close proximity to each other and you will find bears.

The chestnut oak is booming in Forest Co this year as well. There were so many when my son and I went out squirrel hunting it was like walking on marbles.

I don't have ducks. I don't have rows. I have squirrels. And they're drunk.
