ELk Killed on Winslow Hill Thursday

Dominant bull knocked other bull under new chevy truck and looks like truck pulled out and ran over bulls legs, then it looks like dominant bull finishes him off and he ends up getting euthanized. U can c video at Bennezette Wines Facebook page.

Well that was something. Too bad that bull had to perish.

I really don't understand why the people shooting the video blamed the guy in the Chevy. Things developed pretty quickly. Had the bulls decided to go in the other direction it very well could have been their car the bulls hit.

Also I find it hard to believe a business would post a video without first editing the F sharps. Not that I'm a saint, it's one of my favorite words at the cabin or shop. I would never allow it to appear in a video associated with my business. Some people have no class, which is ironic because I always thought wine was suppose to be classy.

Things did happen fast. Chevy clearly tried to get out of the way. Sadly if he hadn’t moved the elk may not have been badly hurt, but who knows the occupants of the truck may have. I can’t really put blame on the driver, unfortunately these things happen when man and nature get too close to each other.

Since it was hit by a car, can they keep it like you can a deer?

That's a good question. I can guarantee you, like a deer, the antlers are property of, and will be retained by, the Commonwealth.

A quick Google search revealed roadkill elk antlers are $20/point. Cheaper than I thought. The cape is $100 should you wish to purchases. They also listed deer cape at $25.00. It's my guess they don't bother charging for the cape at least on deer. Nor do I think they are too concerned about smaller racks.

Elk meat from road kills, crop kills or illegal kills can be and frequently are permitted to individuals.

There is a list maintained or people who want it.
