Family Vacation in Elk Country

I am taking my kids and wife up to Parker Dam State Park Sept. 12th - 14th. Seeing elk won't be an issue, my question is typically how vocal are they at this time?

Thanks
Mike

You will most likely hear some bugling but it will still be a little too early in the season to hit the peek of good and hot bugling activity.

My experience has always been mid October. But the local guys can probably tell you better.

Re: Family Vacation in Elk Country

Thanks guys. I've only been up there for my hunt a couple years ago. We did some scouting and discovered they were bugling still in November. It was similiar to what I guess would be a second rut. All bulls had the cow's in harems and bugled like crazy. I'm hoping to give my kids a similiar experience before it gets really busy up there.

I've been over to Benezette twice in the second week of Oct and they were bugling then pretty good. Have fun!

Re: Family Vacation in Elk Country

Hey RBH, I'll be taking myfamily to Parker Dam that weekend too. The Grandkids have no idea what an elk looks like in real life, It should be a fun time. I took my folks to Benezette last year mid=September and we saw elk everywhere. They were bugling really good too. I would love to rent the log cabin in the middle of the field above the elk center
