I'm not good at estimating sizes.. How bid does he appear to be, and how big will he be come bear season?

Re: How big?

When was this picture taken? I'm guessing 500lbs + in the picture and could be pushing 650lbs + by the fall depending on food source. This is an absolutely huge bear. I would love to see the size of some of the bruins that this guy was fighting with.

Re: How big?

That bear is huge. Can tell by the ears looking really small. It wasn't along loyalsock creek on rt 87 was it? I saw one last year in someones camp yard about that size.

Re: How big?

No doubt that bear is huge. It's ears look "really small" because they are mostly gone. His whole head is one big mess from fighting! That bear would make a great trophy, he's got tons of character, and is just plain cool looking if you ask me.

I think I'm an alright guy, I think I'm alright

Re: How big?

Definately a big bear. Like Borden811 said "what ear's" they appear to be gone. I'd be more curious to know how old he is, as he's defnately been around awhile.

Re: How big?

350-400. I shot one last year about the same size. When I walked up to it I could have swore it was 500+. When I checked it in it weighed 318 live weight. Its easy to over estimate. Mine had "very Little" ears as well but this is a GOOD Bear!

Agreed.

Good bear. But an awful lot of daylight under his belly.

Re: How big?

I think it's a bit bigger than 350-400 but it's hard to tell from a pic. It has a big head and is just a big framed bear. Look how long it is. A bear like that, with a good food source, can really pack some weight on by hunting season. I would say he's 400+ right now. A trophy by any standard.
