Bugling begin?

I am in the process of planning a trip to potter then to the Elk range, looks like I will be up labor day weekend. Just curious if the Elk will be bugling then or when do they start? I know you can not give exact date looking for a guess. Thanks Dave

Re: Bugling begin?

labor day wknd is a bit early but i wouldnt be surprised if you would hear a bugle or two.

the action starts to heat up mid to end of sept into early oct and is quite impressive if you are able to be there

good luck!

Re: Bugling begin?

HNTRDAVE, been up to Benezette twice in the last 3 years during the second week of Oct and heard quite a bit of bugling. It's a sound you'll never forget! Have fun.

Re: Bugling begin?

My parents live outside of benezett and you will hear bugling labor day weekend. But like what was said. The later in the month is alot better. That is when you can hear bulls screamin 24 hours aday.

Re: Bugling begin?

Sounds pretty similar to out here. I have heard them on cold mornings in late August, but I would say peak activity is last 2 weeks in September.

Re: Bugling begin?

Out here it is late September through October. When we are out camping it sounds like they are next to the tent, keeps you awake all night if you are not used to it.
